Close Quarters / About this guide
What Close Quarters stores
Checked October 8, 2026By the Map Room
Close Quarters stores almost nothing about the people who read it. Two small settings stay in the reader's own browser, and the site sends nothing anywhere.
Two settings, one browser
The first setting is the light or dark theme. A reader picks it once, and the choice is kept in that browser tab using sessionStorage. Closing the tab clears it.
On the home page, the radius slider runs from 0.5 km to 70 km and starts at 3 km. The browser remembers the last radius chosen, using localStorage, so the map opens at the same distance on the next visit. Neither value is sent anywhere: both sit in the reader's own browser and stay there. To remove the radius, clear the site data for calgarycasino.online in the browser's settings. The slider then goes back to 3 km, a modest reach for a map that runs out to the foothills.
What the guide never asks for
Close Quarters has no forms, no accounts and no analytics. It never asks for an email address, a name or a phone number, because there is no box to type one into. The guide is not a casino: it takes no bets and has no cashier, so it has no reason to know who is reading.
Paid links appear on the home page, marked Ad, and lead to an online casino partner. The site earns a commission, and the partner can change. A reader who follows one of these links leaves this guide and lands on the partner's site, which has its own privacy rules. Inner pages carry no paid links. Links to venues, regulators and help services are not paid.
Questions
Does the site use cookies?
The two settings it keeps are not cookies. The theme is held in sessionStorage for the open tab, and the map radius in localStorage in the browser. Neither is sent anywhere, and the site runs no analytics and no accounts.
Does the open-now mark know where I am?
No, it only reads the clock. The browser compares its own time with weekly hours kept in Calgary time, the America/Edmonton time zone. Holiday hours are not covered, so they should be checked on the venue's own site.
